Marcus Easley
Marcus Easley serves as Walden's Codes Official. In this role, he works with property owners to ensure compliance with our property maintenance codes, helping keep Walden beautiful and safe. Through the enforcement of laws and codes designed to address specific community concerns, he plays a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of life throughout our community.
Resolution of Complaints and Violations
Codes Enforcement is a complex process, and some violations cannot be resolved immediately. While the town works diligently to address issues as quickly as possible, each case requires multiple steps. These include tracking complaints or reported violations, conducting on-site inspections, issuing courtesy and formal notices, and performing follow-up inspections to verify compliance. When necessary, the process also involves municipal action and recovery of associated costs.
Common Code Enforcement Issues
- Vacant lot debris -Accumulation of debris on vacant lots
- Overgrown lots - Grass, weeds, or vegetation exceeding permitted height
- Dead tree hazards - Dead or dying trees posing a safety risk
- Overhanging branches - Property owners must keep limbs trimmed so they do not hang lower than 14 feet over streets
- Landscaping debris in the right-of-way - Walden does not provide leaf or brush removal
- Tree and branch debris in the right-of-way - Fallen limbs or tree debris left in the public right-of-way
- Dangerous property conditions - Conditions on a property that pose a safety hazard
- Zoning or land use violations – Use of property that does not comply with zoning ordinances
- Substandard or dangerous buildings – Structures that are unsafe, deteriorated, or fail to meet code
- Accumulation of garbage, junk, or recyclable materials – Improper storage or accumulation of waste materials
- Non-operable or unlicensed vehicles – Inoperable or unlicensed vehicles kept on private property for more than 30 days
